Material Planner

SLPT Automotive is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of the SLPT North America team in an exciting role to participate in the opening of a new manufacturing facility located in Warren, MI. SLPT has a fast-growing electric technology portfolio direct to the OEM’s and is expanding manufacturing to support our customers. The Material Planner is responsible for supporting the implementation of the ERP system, setting up Material functions (including procedures and processes) and being a core team member for Materials. This job is located at SLPT’s Warren, MI facility.

Summary

The Material Planner will oversee the planning, procurement, transportation, packaging, storage, control and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer service requirements. Has ownership of processes and systems required for customer service and inventory control by performing the following duties personally and through direct reports.

Responsibilities

· Own the Materials Planning portion of the Plex ERP system

· Support purchasing activities working with productive/non-productive suppliers

· Directs Material planning to meet the customer needs.

· Maintains necessary production to manage inventory investment, maximize inventory turns, and avoid stock outs

· Maintains plant material control and disbursement systems, manage space and material complexity

· Works with purchasing team to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.

· Submit purchase reqs. for material needs outside of supplier purchase goods.

· Works with shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods

· Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges

· Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts.

· Perform monthly cycle counts with investigations to support loss or gain of inventory.

· Manages returnable and expendable packaging methods and inputs into customer portals.

· Support program buildout to minimize premium freight and obsolescence

· Accurately manages scrap recording and reporting on a regular basis.

· Supports annual plant physical inventory counting and reporting on a regular basis.

· Proactively engage plant Materials teams to implement process improvements and share lessons learned across the entire company

· Complete timely, accurate, and informative reports to his supervisor with recommendations, when appropriate, covering all phases and activities of the Materials Department

· Other tasks as needed to support the organization

Requirements:

· Education/Knowledge

o Bachelor’s degree from a college or university or relevant experience

· Experience

o 3+ years of experience in materials related functions in a production environment.

· Successful Evaluation from current position

· Specific for Position

o Use of Plex or similar ERP software system

o Experience in inventory and production control

o Experience in high volume repetitive manufacturing
