Our client is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations in the production workshop. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all production activities to ensure targets are met, quality standards are upheld, and workflows operate safely and efficiently. The Production Manager will foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety, cleanliness, and compliance across workshop operations
  • Create, issue, and manage Manufacturing Orders (MOs) to align with schedules and customer requirements
  • Ensure daily and weekly production goals are met, adjusting resources as needed
  • Oversee workshop equipment, tools, and materials, including maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed and updated as necessary
  • Communicate priorities, schedule changes, and performance expectations to staff
  • Maintain accurate records of schedules, assignments, timesheets, and attendance
  • Manage, coach, and evaluate technicians; provide guidance and performance development
  • Delegate tasks to ensure efficient workflow

Facility / Group-Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Monitor and maintain equipment reliability; anticipate and prevent failures
  • Implement and reinforce 5S methodology across operations
  • Oversee Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for relevant tasks
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction
  • Monitor KPIs and coach team on discrepancies or quality concerns
  • Lead weekly safety meetings, daily toolbox talks, and operational communications
  • Keep team informed of performance metrics and priorities

Job Requirements

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Background in manufacturing with solid understanding of workflows and shop operations
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing at least 5 direct reports
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of 5S, lean practices, and multi-step production processes
  • Ability to articulate the importance of each step in production sequences

Competencies

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing knowledge
  • Experience with inventory management systems; SAP or similar preferred
  • Ability to build trust, hold teams accountable, and maintain high performance
  • Proven ability to implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong risk assessment and mitigation skills
  • Ability to deliver consistent output that meets or exceeds customer expectations
