Math Tutor / Facilitator – DeSoto House of Peace Learning Academy

Job Summary
The DeSoto House of Peace Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Math Tutor / Facilitator to support our students in their mathematical learning journey. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their understanding of various math concepts, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics. The ideal candidate will possess strong teaching skills, experience with curriculum development, and a passion for fostering a positive learning environment.

Duties

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the diverse needs of students.
• Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in various math subjects, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.
• Utilize learning technology and educational software to enhance the tutoring experience.
• Manage classroom dynamics effectively to ensure a conducive learning environment.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborate with other educators to integrate math concepts across the curriculum.
• Support students with special education needs by employing appropriate teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at various levels.
• Strong knowledge of math subjects including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, and discrete math.
• Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning techniques.
• Proficiency in using learning technology and computer skills for educational purposes.
• Experience working with children or adults in an educational setting; background in early childhood education or preschool experience is a plus.
• Understanding of physiological concepts related to education may be beneficial.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage students effectively.
• A background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or related fields is advantageous but not required.

Pay: $25.00 - $60.00 per hour
