Math Tutor (Part-Time)

We’re a growing online math tutoring practice working with middle and high school students, focused on building not just math skills—but confidence, independence, and real academic progress.

We’re looking for a reliable, thoughtful math tutor to join our team and support students in a way that goes beyond just “getting through homework.”

What makes this role different:

This is not a passive tutoring role.

Our tutors:

• Guide students through structured problem-solving (not just giving answers)
• Help students build confidence and overcome frustration with math
• Pay attention to how students are thinking—not just whether they’re right or wrong
• Adapt sessions based on each student’s needs, pace, and learning style

Responsibilities:

• Work 1:1 with middle and/or high school students via online sessions
• Support with current coursework while reinforcing foundational skills
• Ask strong guiding questions and encourage student explanation
• Identify patterns in student mistakes and adjust instruction accordingly
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families when needed

We’re a great fit if you:

• Have a strong foundation in middle/high school math (pre-algebra through algebra 2; geometry a plus)
• Are patient, engaging, and able to connect with students
• Can explain concepts in multiple ways—not just one
• Care about student growth and take ownership of outcomes
• Are reliable, organized, and communicate well

Bonus (but not required):

• Prior tutoring or teaching experience
• Experience working with students who struggle with confidence or test performance
• Comfort using online tools (Zoom, digital whiteboards, etc.)

Schedule & Pay:

• Part-time, flexible scheduling (afternoons/evenings preferred)
• All sessions are conducted online
• Competitive hourly rate based on experience
