McLeod LoadMaster Expert — Detention & Billing Focus
*Only apply if you have the above*
About the Role
We're a logistics technology company building a next-generation detention billing platform for trucking carriers. We need someone who knows McLeod LoadMaster deeply — not just how to use it, but where it falls short. Your expertise will directly shape product decisions and integration strategy.
This is not a data engineering role. We're looking for an operator-level expert who has lived inside LoadMaster daily and can speak fluently about its detention workflows, billing configuration, and the manual workarounds carriers are forced to use today.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the internal authority on McLeod LoadMaster's detention module: how detention events are created, approved, billed, and exported
- Document LoadMaster's detention workflow end-to-end, including configuration options, rule hierarchies, approval flows, and reporting capabilities
- Identify and articulate LoadMaster's gaps and limitations — what it can't do, what requires manual intervention, and where carriers lose money due to workflow friction
- Advise on how carriers currently handle detention billing inside LoadMaster, including common customizations, third-party add-ons, and workarounds
- Support integration work between our platform and McLeod, including understanding McLeod's data model, API surface, and EDI capabilities (204/214)
- Collaborate with our development team to translate domain knowledge into product requirements and acceptance criteria
- Provide input on billing rule logic: free time windows, tiered rate structures, rounding behavior, customer-specific overrides, and facility-level exceptions
What We're Looking For
- Deep, hands-on experience with McLeod LoadMaster — you've configured it, not just clicked through it
- Specific experience with LoadMaster's detention and accessorial billing modules
- Understanding of the data model behind LoadMaster: movements vs. orders, stop-level detail, driver pay vs. charge separation, customer/facility hierarchies
- Ability to articulate what LoadMaster does well and — more importantly — what it doesn't do or does poorly for detention management
- Familiarity with how LoadMaster handles (or fails to handle): GPS/telematics-based detention verification, automated detention event detection, evidence-based billing documentation, real-time alerting for active detention situations, and facility-level performance tracking
- Experience with McLeod's integration points: APIs, EDI, flat-file exports, or third-party connectors
- Strong communication skills — you'll be translating operational reality into technical requirements for a development team
Nice to Have
- Experience with other TMS platforms (Trimble TruckMate, TMW, etc.) for comparative perspective
- Familiarity with telematics platforms (Geotab, Samsara, KeepTruckin/Motive)
- Background in carrier operations, dispatch, or billing departments
- Understanding of detention billing from both the carrier and broker/shipper side
What This Is Not
This is not a role where you'll be building Tableau dashboards or writing ETL pipelines. We need domain expertise in how detention billing actually works inside McLeod — the good, and the bad.
Pay: Up to $100.00 per hour
