Mechanic for Heavy Trucks (Zagre, Croatia)

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and diesel-powered vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, suspensions, and steering systems
• Service diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, and alternators
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Use diagnostic tools, scanners, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
• Follow safety procedures and company policies
• Keep work area clean and organized

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 4+ years of experience as a heavy truck or diesel mechanic preferred
• Technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
• ASE certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck) preferred

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy truck systems
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and hand tools
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
• Time management and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
• Stand, kneel, bend, and work under vehicles for extended periods
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina
