Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanic specializing in both heavy and light-duty equipment to join our team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive repairs, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of machinery, fleet vehicles, and trailers. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, supporting our operational excellence across multiple sectors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery and utilize your mechanical skills in a fast-paced environment.
This position will be based out of our Bucksport shop. We have a service truck for road calls and extensive shop setup.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections and diagnostics on heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles and equipment using schematics, diagnostic tools, and hand tools.
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, air brake systems, HVAC units, and electrical components.
- Execute fabrication tasks including welding, soldering, and assembly to modify or repair equipment as needed.
- Maintain and repair excavators, cranes, forklifts, dump trucks, and other heavy machinery.
- Use power tools and hand tools to perform routine maintenance such as tire service, alignment adjustments, and component replacements.
- Read technical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications while documenting work performed accurately.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on heavy equipment operation and automotive diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering.
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulic systems, HVAC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and vehicle maintenance.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools for automotive repair as well as service technician practices for industrial machinery.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and operate heavy machinery such as excavators or cranes when required.
- Maine State Inspection License required
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
