Job Summary
We are hiring a Mechanic - Heavy Equipment to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles, heavy earth moving machinery, and drilling equipment. The role supports daily maintenance operations by ensuring equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime while following maintenance procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect heavy equipment such as dumpers, wheel loaders, excavators, cranes, graders, dozers, tippers, bulkers, and other mobile machinery to detect faults and performance issues
• Diagnose malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repairs required
• Repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, and maintain heavy-duty equipment used in industrial, mining, material handling, land clearing, and related operations
• Carry out preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and support equipment reliability
• Repair and recondition engines and other defective parts
• Repair or replace brakes, steering systems, worn-out parts, and hydraulic fluids as required
• Perform minor repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems
• Control and maintain fuels and lubricants in the garage for operations
• Install and repair equipment parts and carry out emergency repairs when needed
• Coordinate with the supervisor to maintain essential spare parts for maintenance activities
• Prepare end-of-shift reports and hand over pending issues to the incoming shift
• Ensure machinery and work areas are left clean and hazard-free after maintenance work
• Report defects, accidents, injuries, or operational issues immediately to the supervisor
• Read and interpret simple machine diagrams, manuals, and drawings to perform assigned tasks
• Follow departmental procedures, housekeeping rules, and safety standards at all times
• Perform any additional maintenance-related duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of heavy vehicles, heavy earth moving equipment, and drilling equipment
• Minimum primary school certification
• Trade certificate or license related to the function is preferred
• Basic English language ability
• Ability to read and interpret simple machine diagrams, manuals, and drawings
• Good troubleshooting and repair skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
• Good teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Results-oriented approach and commitment to safe work practices

Preferred Skills

• Experience in industrial, cement, mining, quarry, or heavy-equipment maintenance environments
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and workshop practices
• Ability to work on multiple types of heavy-duty equipment with minimal supervision
