MECHANIC-HVAC REPAIR

STARTING SALARY
Based on classification and pay plan for Classified employees:
Grade 25: $19.80
Grade 26: $20.25
Grade 27: $20.70
Grade 28: $21.16

QUALIFICATIONS
HVAC/R MECHANIC
High School diploma or equivalent required

MEC/HVAC I
Must have experience in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of
HVAC/Ref/Controls systems

MEC/HVAC II
(2) years’ documented experience in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of
HVAC/Ref/Controls systems. OR
(1) year HVAC/Ref/Controls certificate from and accredited trade school and
(1) year of related experience. OR
An Associate’s degree in HVAC/Refrigeration/Controls

MEC/HVAC III
(5) years’ documented experience in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of
HVAC/Ref/Controls systems. OR
(1) year HVAC/Ref/Controls certificate from and accredited trade school may be
substituted for one of the (5) years of experience. OR
An Associate’s degree in HVAC/Ref/Controls may be substituted for (2) of the (5)
years of experience.

MEC/HVAC IIII
(10) years’ documented experience in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of
HVAC/Ref/Controls systems. OR
(1) year HVAC/Ref/Controls certificate from and accredited trade school may be
substituted for one of the 10 years of experience. OR
An Associate’s degree in HVAC/Ref/Controls may be substituted for (2) of the (10)
years of experience.

All Levels:
Must obtain an EPA approved CFC Universal certification within 90 days of employment if not certified
at the time of employment if service in a refrigerant handling capacity.
Valid Florida Driver’s license.
