Mechanic - Yardman Needed - Small Engine Repair/Maintenance

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanic - Yardman to join our team, specializing in small engine repair and maintenance. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of equipment, engines, and machinery used in Landscaping services and construction. Yardman duties include making material deliveries and pick-ups, customer materials loading etc. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for mechanical work and a proactive attitude to ensure equipment operates at peak performance and customer needs are satisfied. Duties

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on small engines, including lawnmowers, line trimmers, blowers, and other outdoor power equipment including trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
• Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues effectively
• Conduct heavy lifting of equipment and parts safely to facilitate repairs and maintenance tasks
• Use hand tools, power tools, and other specialized tools accurately
• Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and inventory of parts and tools
• Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks when necessary, including basic automotive repairs or diesel engine servicing
• Support the yard operations by organizing equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting with sales or customer service as needed

Experience

• Proven mechanic experience with a focus on small engine repair or equipment maintenance
• Service technician background highly preferred
• Strong understanding of schematics, electrical systems, and mechanical components of various machinery
• Experience repairing diesel engines or heavy equipment such as Bobcat and Hyundai machinery is advantageous
• Familiarity with automotive service maintenance techniques and heavy lifting safety procedures
• Knowledge of welding, soldering, and electrical troubleshooting techniques a major plus
• Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate clearly

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

• small engine mechanic: 2 years (Preferred)
• automotive maintenance: 1 year (Required)
• heavy equipment maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
• operating a bobcat, backhoe, or loader: 1 year (Required)
• snow plow and snow blower maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
