DMF began in 1972 as a family-owned business and has continued to be an industry leader, designing custom products to help their clients meet special needs.

Role Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time position with remote flexibility, located in Atlanta, GA. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for product creation and/or improvements to increase safety, reliability, and maintenance efficiency for all custom railgear products.

Responsibilities:

· Create 3D CAD models and 2D CAD drawings in line with company standards.

· Develop and maintain detailed project documentation for new and revised products.

· Collaborate with internal departments and external customers and/or suppliers to ensure components and systems meet specifications and regulations.

· Perform calculations for system and component analysis such as loads and forces analysis and tolerance analysis for optimal material selection.

· Assist production personnel with manufacture, assembly, and inspection of new or revised products.

· Ability to travel up to 25%; flexibility to travel when needed is preferred.

· Adhere to all quality and safety standards.

· Support other projects and perform duties as needed.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree

  • Product Design and CAD skills (Solidworks experience preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a design engineering role.
  • Practical knowledge of tolerance analysis, loads and forces analysis, and material selection
  • Experience with hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Experience in metal fabrication and manufacturing industries
  • Experience with project management software and methodologies is a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including 12V electric vehicle design and CAN bus communication protocols, is highly desirable

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and independently

· Ability to develop accurate and detailed project documentation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
