Mechanical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Mechanical Design Engineer will have responsibility to complete Design Specifications for Custom and Standard products, research and initiate ingenious manufacturing techniques to improve products and reduce costs, and improve product designs.

Position Description:

Selected candidate will have experience with SolidWorks, and AutoCAD Inventor 3D solid modeling software. Knowledge of wood and sheet metal design along with assembly modeling. Selected candidate will be responsible for direct communications with vendors to acquire quotations and assure manufacturability, and the production floor to assure proper assembly. Extensive use of Microsoft Office and Syspro ERP are an integral part of the position.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, update, and support the current products

• Create piece part and assembly prints for quotes, manufacturing, assembly, and quality control.

• Provide technical support to all manufacturing departments for manufacturing and assembly of parts and product.

• Provide support to Sales department for concepts, drawings, etc. related to RFQs

• Provide support to vendors and customers on design related topics, when required

• Assist/Backup/Proof the creation, maintenance, and publishing of technical documents/product manuals
• Establish and edit Bill of Materials, Part Numbers, and Routing for Production Control accuracy
• Establish Bill Of Materials, Part Numbers, and Routings for Production Control accuracy

Backup responsibilities:

• · Provide support to Manufacturing & Purchasing when needed, including BOM revisions and updates, following ECR/ECN procedures including document control, and drawing and specification revision and interpretation
• Provide support to Sales & Marketing when needed, including training manuals, graphics projects, and marketing materials.

Requirements:

• · Bachelor of Science Degree with major in Engineering disciplines (may require transcripts) or a combination or education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Proficient use of SolidWorks for mechanical design, sheet metal design, basic wood cabinetry drafting, and file management (may be tested)
• Fundamental understanding of PDM practices

• Sheet metal component and assembly design experience

• Basic Computer Skills, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint (may be tested)

• Syspro or other BOM/MRP/ECO Accounting software experience is a plus

• Previous experience in sheet metal, cabinet design, and electrical with knowledge of UL, CE, CSE, and NSF Standards is a plus.

• Wood cabinet design is highly beneficial

• Wood and Sheet metal fabrication knowledge of techniques and tolerances
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Measurability and Accountability:

Selected candidate will be measured on his/her ability to solve problems and will only be successful when helping other departments strive to make their goals. He/she will be responsible for making sure that all Bills of Materials, Work Order Routings, and Drawing packages are at the highest level of accuracy. He/she will also be measured on how well they interact with other departments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
