We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and mechanical design/layout. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing current manufacturing and mechanical systems to identify inefficiencies and develop strategic solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall system performance. You will also be responsible for product design, development, and layout of mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet technical specifications, safety standards, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a keen eye for design optimization and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and sales teams to implement best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Glassboro, NJ

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time, In-person)

Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 annually, negotiable based on experience

Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting product design and development of assemblies, sub-assemblies, Bills of Material and components for Engineered to Order (ETO) products using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault, and Rootstock ERP. This position will work in collaboration with Design Engineers, Operations, and Sales to provide designs per customer's request. This position requires hands-on mechanical skills with the ability to work in an industrial shop environment.

Key Responsibilities and Focus:

  • Create detailed drawings for fabrication (including parts, tools, and workstations) to be sent to the fabrication work center
  • Design and develop parts/assemblies with supporting documents including multi-level bill of materials, 3D models, and production ready drawing packages and other technical documentation
  • Ensure that designs use current manufacturing, assembly and installation practices that result in a producible product
  • Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause ensuring customers are set up for success
  • Communicate with sales and customers, as necessary, to obtain information for specific applications to quote new business including preparing drawings and related documentation
  • Assist with product improvement and support new product development
  • Support manufacturing operations and production from proof-of-concept (POC) phase through production stabilization utilizing efficient practices
  • Design and optimize mechanical components, systems, and layouts using CAD and simulation tools
  • Assist with optimizing production processes and workflows
  • Participate in departmental and/or cross-functional teams to achieve organizational strategic goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, BSME preferred
  • 2+ years of experience creating detailed engineering/product drawings for manufactured mechanical components, including bill of materials generation required
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and process improvement in a manufacturing or industrial setting required
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.) and 3D modeling tools
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process optimization techniques is preferred
  • Hands-on mechanical skills required
  • Experience in automotive, sheet metal, or steel design is a plus
  • Familiarity with CRM/ERP software required (Salesforce & Rootstock is a plus)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to Glassboro, NJ is required
  • This is and In-Person role with no option for remote work
  • This is a hands-on position that requires you to work most of your day out on the shop floor using hand and power tools and other types of equipment commonly used in the manufacturing, fabrication, and sheet metal industries
  • Working knowledge of MIG welding processes and weld design principles is considered a plus
