Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

The Design Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for developing, reviewing, and optimizing mechanical designs for equipment, piping systems, and industrial components in EPC, oil & gas, or manufacturing projects. The role involves engineering calculations, design documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technically sound and cost-effective design solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review mechanical design drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Design mechanical systems including piping, equipment, structures, and utility systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, stress analysis, and material selection as per project standards.
  • Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical submittals for compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to international codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams for integrated design execution.
  • Provide technical support to procurement, fabrication, and site execution teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP meetings, and client technical discussions.
  • Manage design revisions, documentation control, and engineering reports.
  • Support value engineering and design optimization to improve project efficiency.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma with strong experience may be considered).
  • 5–10 years of experience in mechanical design within EPC, oil & gas, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping layouts, and equipment design.
  • Proficiency in design standards, codes, and engineering documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with design software and engineering tools.
