Food Equipment Manufacturing Corporation (FEMC) designs and builds automated packaging machinery for the food industry. Our equipment includes tray denesters, filling systems, conveyors, loading systems, lidding equipment, and fully integrated packaging lines used by leading food manufacturers throughout North America.

Position Summary:

FEMC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, assembly, and continuous improvement of custom automation and packaging equipment.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and wants exposure to every phase of a project, including concept development, machine design, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, customer support, and field implementation.

The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to develop practical solutions for real-world manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Design machine components, assemblies, and automated equipment using SolidWorks
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials
  • Support machine assembly, testing, and factory acceptance testing (FAT)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during machine build and startup
  • Collaborate with controls, manufacturing, and service personnel to improve machine performance
  • Assist with product standardization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support customer installations and field service activities as needed
  • Participate in project reviews and engineering documentation activities

QualificationsRequired:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and shop environments
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Experience designing industrial machinery, automation equipment, or manufacturing systems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and assembly
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, conveyors, servo systems, and automated equipment
  • Experience supporting machine builds, testing, or commissioning activities
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, machining, robotics, Formula SAE, Baja, or similar technical projects

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
