Mechanical Design Engineer - BMU

Job Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer – BMU is responsible for the design, analysis, and development of Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) and related façade access systems. The role involves preparing detailed mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in compliance with international standards and project specifications, while coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and clients.

Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering

• Design BMU systems, monorails, davits, and façade access equipment.
• Prepare mechanical calculations, load analysis, and design reports.
• Develop fabrication drawings, and shop drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with EN, BS, ISO, OSHA, and local authority standards.
• Select appropriate materials, motors, wire ropes, safety devices, and components.

Coordination & Support

• Coordinate with structural, electrical, and façade consultants.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning stages.
• Review and respond to technical queries, RFIs, and design comments.
• Attend design meetings with clients, consultants, and project teams.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure BMU designs meet safety, operational, and maintenance requirements.
• Assist in preparing method statements, risk assessments, and technical submittals.
• Support third-party inspections and authority approvals.

Site & Field Support

• Conduct site visits for design verification and technical assessments.
• Support troubleshooting of BMU systems during testing and operation.
• Provide as-built drawings and technical handover documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in BMU or façade access system design.
• Experience in UAE or GCC projects preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of BMU systems and façade access equipment.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks / Inventor, and MS Office.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and design analysis.
• Familiar with international safety and design standards.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with high-rise buildings and complex façades.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and installation methods.
• Exposure to testing, commissioning, and certification procedures.
