Our mechanical engineers are responsible for applying engineering principles and company values to each engineering project to provide high-value solutions for clients. The engineer should be able to communicate job requirements with architects, owners, and other engineers to have a fully coordinated design. Essential Functions
- Responsible for the overall mechanical technical content of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy.
- Review the design project for code compliance and perform code research as required to comply with applicable state, local, and federal codes. Apply in-depth knowledge of codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101.
- Monitor construction progress and C.A. correspondence to ensure accurate and timely responses to R.F.I.’s and related issues.
- Review other teams' design projects.
- Participate in standards meetings within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs/websites for specific applications.
- Collaborate with clients and clients’ PMs to meet their objectives.
- Perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design.
- Write mechanical HVAC specifications through completion.
- Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines and architectural details; participate in coordination meetings with owners and architects.
- Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction.
- Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project.
- Ensure timely delivery of all completed projects; meet project schedules set by the Project Manager.
- Plan time of self and other engineers/designers to ensure project is completed on time, on budget and is technically correct.
- Act as technical advisor to junior staff regarding project assignments.
- Perform design work using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Present mechanical design to owner/architect when required.
- Serve as a field engineer during construction phase of a project.
Requirements
- Mechanical engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with HVAC systems.
- BSME or equivalent degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven design experience in the areas of building operation, energy use, and building mechanical systems.
- Must be able to use AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and design to complete a project.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101.
- Must be able to travel and visit work sites as necessary to the job at the time convenient for the clients, contractors, and building managers.
- Maintain knowledge and skills in the particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals and participating in specific industry standards organizations such as NFPA, IES, etc.
- PE license strongly preferred.

- Critical thinking and mechanical aptitude, with proactive thinking processes.
- Strong multi-tasking skills are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a clear appreciation for deadlines; excellent time management skills are necessary.
- Must be able to be fully confidential.
