Mechanical Design Engineer- Medical Device

Core Responsibilities

Design and Prototyping

Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, and 3D CAD modeling using Altium, KiCAD, SolidWorks for medical subsystems including analog/mixed-signal circuits and enclosures.

Develop prototypes through assembly, soldering, and iterative testing, incorporating FEA for stress analysis and simulations for thermal/electrical performance.

Testing and Validation

Conduct rigorous testing for signal integrity, EMC compliance, and biocompatibility, using tools for ADCs/DACs, low-noise amplification, and sensor calibration.

Perform risk assessments (FMEA), generate validation reports, and support design transfers to manufacturing with detailed BOMs and DFx analyses.

Collaboration and Documentation

• Partner with embedded software, mechanical, QA, and regulatory teams to integrate microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32) and protocols (I2C, CAN, TCP/IP).

• Maintain comprehensive documentation per ISO 13485, including design histories, change orders, and technical files for audits or submissions.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

• B.Tech/M.Tech/MS in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Electronics, Mechatronics, or related; 3-5+ years in medical device design, preferably from IIT Madras or equivalent.

• Proven track record in full lifecycle development of Class II/III devices with handson prototyping and regulatory submissions.
