Mechanical Design Engineer (Sheet metal, Fabrication, Laser cutting nesting)

We are looking for a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanical Designer & Laser Cutting Nesting Operator to join our engineering and production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and preparing sheet metal components using CAD software and performing Laser cutting nesting operations for laser cutting, punching, and bending processes. The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, material optimization, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop sheet metal parts, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
• Create flat patterns, DXF files, and BOMs for manufacturing.
• Perform nesting operations using software such as CypNest, or similar, ensuring optimal material utilization.
• Prepare and verify programs for laser cutting, bending, or plasma cutting machines.
• Work closely with the production team to ensure manufacturability and accuracy of parts.
• Maintain revision control and ensure drawings comply with quality and customer standards.
• Troubleshoot and optimize cutting parameters to improve productivity and minimize waste.
• Coordinate with the design and fabrication teams for project planning and execution.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality procedures in all tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in sheet metal design and Laser nesting operations.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and nesting software (Cypnest).
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, and assembly.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and fabrication standards.
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of machines, automation technologies, and industrial processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
