Position Title: MECHANICAL DESIGNER
Location: HOUSTON, TX
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: HEAD OF PROJECT ENGINEERING
Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for the creation, organization, and dissemination of mechanical designs as needed by the Engineering team. Duties can involve some hands-on work, and document writing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use Inventor/ AutoCad software to create detailed 3D designs for complex projects for turnkey
- power generation solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to develop accurate
- and complete schematics.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform quality checks on completed schematics to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of schematics and related documentation.
- Continuously improve skills and knowledge related to drafting and AutoCAD software.
- Assist the team with equipment drawings and installation/testing.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop accurate technical specifications and RFQ’s.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in drafting, preferably with mechanical systems.
- 3+ years of industry-related experience or an associate degree in a technical field.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and related software.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.
- Valid driver’s license.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the installation, operation, or troubleshooting of industrial automation
- equipment.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency with the company’s preferred software. (AutoCAD,
- SolidWorks Electrical/Mechanical, Excel) and the ability to learn new software quickly
- Experience with SolidWorks.
- Ability to take direction from engineering team and work independently to design systems per
- project design specifications
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
