Mechanical (HVAC) Designer – Healthcare Projects | Houston, TX (Hybrid)

A well-established MEP consulting firm in Houston is seeking a Mechanical (HVAC) Designer to join its highly specialized healthcare team. This firm exclusively focuses on healthcare facilities, building a strong reputation through repeat clients and long-term partnerships.

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on, production-focused designer who enjoys solving real-world HVAC challenges - particularly within active hospital environments and renovation projects.

The Role

• Lead HVAC design efforts on small to mid-sized healthcare renovation projects
• Work primarily within existing hospital facilities, including system upgrades and equipment replacements
• Design and coordinate systems involving chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, and critical medical equipment (MRI, CT scanners, etc.)
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and support field coordination
• Collaborate closely with architects and internal team members (a significant portion of projects are architect-led)
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously as part of a lean, high-performing team

What We’re Looking For

• 4–8 years of HVAC design experience
• Strong practical, field-based knowledge of HVAC systems
• Healthcare experience is a plus, but not required
• Comfortable working on renovation/retrofit projects rather than ground-up construction
• A true “production” mindset- someone who enjoys designing and delivering high-quality work
