Rydberg Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. In this role you will support product development and manufacturing in a hands-on technical capacity involving a wide range of engineering tasks from design to manufacturing and quality assurance testing of quantum devices and photonics. Responsibilities include: • Design and engineer mechanical systems and components that meet functional specifications and user requirements. • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and 2D technical engineering designs for manufacturing. • Conduct simulations and analyses (ANSYS) to test the feasibility of designs and ensure performance (mechanical, thermal, etc.) and compliance with industry standards. • Build and manufacture glass vapor cells, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems, precision optomechanical and electromechanical assemblies, laser, optics and fiber-optics packaging. • Collaborate with project management and other engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with electronic systems and software. • Prototype development, including selecting materials, fabricating parts, and performing tests. • Manage the full product development cycle from concept through to production. • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and user manuals. • Support manufacturing processes by working closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product quality and manufacturability. • Stay current with the latest technologies and advancements in mechanical engineering and related fields.
Expertise and skills include: • Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. • At least 3 years of relevant experience in design, engineering, and manufacturing. • Expert in CAD and SolidWorks for mechanical engineering design. • Experience with COMSOL or similar simulation tools highly preferred. • Knowledgeable of material properties e.g. mechanical, thermal, magnetic, RF, etc. • Experience with programming languages such as LabView, Python, and C is highly beneficial. • Strong capability in both analog and digital electronics. • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and handling delicate materials. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and external collaborators. • Self-motivated, meticulous, and detail-oriented with a high level of organization and planning. • US citizenship or green card may be required by US export control laws • Work location in Ann Arbor, Michigan USA
