Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in ISO standards related to ambulance design, manufacturing, and automotive conversion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international standards, developing technical designs, and supporting the production process of ambulances, vans, and other specialized vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and oversee ambulance and special-purpose vehicle conversion projects, ensuring compliance with ISO and regulatory standards.
- Review and implement ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 1789, EN 1789 (ambulance standards) or equivalent requirements in design and manufacturing.
- Conduct feasibility studies, load analysis, and structural evaluations for vehicle conversion projects.
- Coordinate with production teams, suppliers, and quality assurance to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Provide technical drawings, CAD models, and design documentation for manufacturing.
- Optimize designs for safety, durability, and cost-efficiency in line with industry best practices.
- Perform risk assessments, testing, and validation of converted vehicles and components.
- Support after-sales and maintenance teams by providing engineering expertise for troubleshooting and improvements.
- Ensure projects meet local and international regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in automotive conversion or ambulance manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards related to vehicle manufacturing (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, EN 1789, etc.).
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar).
- Hands-on experience in automotive body design, HVAC systems, electrical integration, and ergonomics.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of safety standards, material selection, and production processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work in ambulance conversion, van/bus modifications, or special-purpose vehicle design.
- Knowledge of medical equipment integration in vehicles.
- Familiarity with ISO audits, certifications, and quality systems.
