QC Conveyors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to focus on CAD administration for join our organization. As the CAD administrator, this Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s CAD environment, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and compliance with design standards. This role also oversees the creation and maintenance of solid model content provided to customers, whether built manually or through CPQ (Configure-Price-Quote) automation, and supports the development of CAD assets for CPQ integration.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned
Create and manage CAD content for CPQ systems to enable automated configuration for customer downloads during the quoting process
Work with management and IT teams to ensure CAD data aligns with CPQ logic and rules
Act as the primary liaison between the company and CPQ vendors for CAD-related deliverables
Define and document requirements, review deliverables, and ensure alignment with company standards and CPQ logic
Provide feedback and technical guidance to vendors to ensure quality and consistency
Solid Model Content Management
Develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and libraries
Ensure models meet company standards for accuracy, metadata, and usability
Collaborate with engineering teams to validate model integrity and functionality
Create and maintain the standards for content that cannot be fulfilled through CPQ automation
Manage the process of manual content creation by staff engineers to ensure timely completion and adherence to company standards
Track and document all special requests for reporting and continuous improvement
CAD System Administration
Install, configure, and maintain SolidWorks and Solid Edge CAD software and associated tool.
Manage licenses, user accounts, and permissions
Ensure compatibility between CAD applications and enterprise systems (PLM, ERP, CPQ)
Production Drawing Review
Check and validate production drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards
Ensure drawings reflect correct dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications
Collaborate with design engineers to resolve discrepancies before release to manufacturing
Maintain CAD templates, standards, and naming conventions
Oversee version control, file storage, and backup processes
Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies
Provide technical support to CAD users, resolving software and hardware issues
Develop and deliver training sessions for CAD best practices and CPQ-related workflows
Create written documentation for CAD, PDM, and CPQ integration processes
Evaluate and recommend CAD and CPQ tools or upgrades
Identify opportunities to streamline CAD-to-CPQ workflows
Implement automation scripts or macros to improve efficiency
BSME/BSMET from an accredited university or college with 1-5 years’ work experience OR associate degree and with 5-10 years’ experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical or industrial machine components
Utilized GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 to interpret and technical drawings
Ability to work in both office and production environments
Experience managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
