Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Key Responsibilities

1. HVAC Systems

a) Review and prepare HVAC design and shop drawings.

b) Verify cooling load calculations and equipment selection.

c) Coordinate duct routing, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, and ventilation systems.

d) Ensure compliance with ASHRAE and local authority requirements.

e) Supervise installation of AHUs, FCUs, VRF systems, exhaust fans, and ventilation systems.

f) Review and witness Testing & Commissioning (TAB reports).

2. Fire Fighting Systemsa) Review firefighting layouts including sprinkler and hydrant systems.

b) Verify pump head and flow calculations.

c) Ensure compliance with NFPA and Civil

d) Defense requirements.

e) Supervise installation of fire pumps, sprinklers, hose reels, and landing valves.

f) Coordinate with fire alarm and electrical systems.

g) Participate in authority inspections and approvals.

3. Water Supply Systems

a) Review domestic water supply layouts (cold and hot water systems).

b) Verify pump sizing, tank capacity, and pressure calculations.

c) Ensure proper pipe sizing and routing.

d) Supervise installation of pumps, water heaters, piping, and fixtures.

e) Coordinate with architectural and

4. Drainage Systems

a) Review drainage and sewer layout drawings.

b) Verify slope calculations and pipe sizing.

c) Coordinate underground drainage works.

d) Supervise installation of soil, waste, vent, and stormwater systems.

e) Ensure compliance with plumbing codes and authority standards.

5. Coordination & Site

a) Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines.

b) Review and approve material submittals and shop drawings.

c) Conduct site inspections and ensure installation as per approved drawings.

d) Raise NCRs for non-compliance issues.

e) Monitor project progress and report to management.

6. Testing & Commissioning

a) Witness pressure testing of piping systems.

b) Review HVAC air balancing reports.

c) Verify fire pump testing and flushing procedures.

d) Ensure systems operate as per design intent.

7. Documentation & Reporting

a) Prepare method statements and technical reports.

b) Maintain as-built drawings and O&M documentation.

c) Assist in project handover procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• 3-8 years of experience in MEP (UAE Experience)

· Projects (building construction/fit-out).

• Knowledge of HVAC, Fire Fighting, Water Supply, and Drainage systems.

• Familiarity with local authority regulations and international codes.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
