Mechanical Engineer Intern

BlueHalo, an AV company, is seeking entry level engineering candidates to support a variety of aerospace and defense programs. A qualified candidate would have a background in mechanical engineering and interest in supporting a variety of aerospace and defense work. Projects vary within technology areas at BlueHalo, an AV company, and mechanical engineering work can consist of designing electro-mechanical mechanisms such as steering mirrors or gimbals, electronics packaging and thermal management, sensor design and opto-mechanical system design. These programs are for a variety of applications including ground-based demonstration programs, operational fielded assets as well as space qualified imaging, and laser communications.

Essential Functions

• Supporting mechanical design activities of various projects including modeling electro-mechanical systems, electrical enclosures, opto-mechanical systems, etc.
• Supporting system assembly, integration, and test of the above hardware
• Assist other engineers in creating and updating SolidWorks models and drawings.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in process in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year university
• Desire to pursue a career in Mechanical engineering for Aerospace and defense systems
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience with SolidWorks CAD software.
• Experience with FEA software
• Hands-on experience (machine shop, assembly, automotive, etc.). Ability to understand technical drawings and assembly instructions.
• Completion of inter-disciplinary course work including controls/mechatronics, basic electrical circuits, etc.

Work Environment

This job operates in professional and secure office and laboratory environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and other equipment as needed. The candidate will be expected to perform engineering duties in the laboratory and assembly areas as well.
