Overview
We are a small, established machinery manufacturer seeking a talented engineer for a role that combines both mechanical and manufacturing engineering. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, specifically electromechanical machine design, and also a good understanding of the manufacturing processes and systems that go into building high quality machines in a cost effective manner. This role involves mastering all technical aspects of our current product line, updating current designs and designing new, next-generation products, while also maintaining and monitoring our manufacturing control systems and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electromechanical products using CAD software (currently Draftsight by Dassault, maker of Solid Works).
- Utilize GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards in design documentation to ensure precision in manufacturing.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs), touchscreen interfaces(HMIs), basic electrical wiring and commercially available sensors, actuators, etc., to develop new products and to support existing products.
- Develop mastery of our existing product line so as to provide technical support for in-house and also occasionally on-site at customers location.
- Create new and maintain existing manufacturing documentation, including multi-level Bills of Material, wiring diagrams, internal assembly documents and procedures.
- Create new and maintain existing drawings of manufactured parts, suitable for both internal use and also for use by our outside manufacturing partners.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and reduce waste throughout the assembly line.
- Engage in process engineering activities to enhance production efficiency within the factory environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational workflows.
Skill/Experience
- Reliable, personable self-starter who can take a project from start to finish as part of a very small team.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Strong computer skills in CAD, MS Excel and MS Word.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing documentation , multi-level Bills of Materials and assembly manuals.
- Good working knowledge of electricity and electrical products.
- Hands-on experience designing and building electromechanical projects.
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering roles within a manufacturing facility is a big plus.
- Familiarity with CNC programming, CAM programming, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including factory experience and process optimization techniques.
- Strong understanding of quality control in manufacturing environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
