Position Summary:
Under supervision from the Industry Leader, the Mechanical Engineer provides all engineering, technical and administrative support required to take a project from start through completion. This individual will provide AutoCAD/Revit drafting (as required), HVAC load calculations, HVAC & Plumbing system design, fire sprinkler design, coordinate manpower assignments and other project related functions as specified by the supervisor. This individual ensures that his or her work is of the highest quality in accordance with company design standards.
Essential Functions:
● With supervision, performs mechanical engineering by applying the principles of mechanical design including but not limited to HVAC, Plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems and equipment.
● Provide direction via sketches and drafting markups for project designers and EITs, including floor plans, details, elevations, ceiling plans, revisions, and other industry standard design drawings/documentation required to accurately depict the mechanical design on a project level.
● Coordinate with architects, engineers, technicians, clients, sub-consultants and others in the design of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and/or Fire Sprinkler) on a project level basis.
● Leads the creation of project documents. These design documents include design submittals (preliminary, schematic design, design development, construction documents, commissioning documents, reports, etc.), plan check and bid documents (including specifications) and other documents required by the plan review process.
● Provide support of projects in the construction administration phase which may include responses to RFIs, change order requests, product submittal reviews and periodic site visits (punch lists, project sign off).
● Completes assigned tasks within mechanical fees/budget established in project workplan.
● Participates in continuing education for emerging technology, industry trends, and code compliance.
● Under supervision, thoroughly conducts preliminary site visits for assessing project scope for the purpose of writing the proposal and coordinating with sub-consultants as needed.
● Complete other duties as assigned to benefit the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements:
● Proficiency in reading/interpreting a construction document set.
● The ability to work well with others (team player) and following instructions.
● Proficient in office drafting standards (AutoCAD, REVIT, others).
● Develop drawings from minimal direction by the Industry Lead.
Experience:
● 0 to 3 years as a Registered Professional Engineer.
Specific Skills:
● Proficient in Mechanical Drafting (AutoCAD). Knowledge of BIM/Revit or other design software is acceptable but not required. Proficient in all levels of construction document development.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:
● Current registration as a Mechanical Engineer in the State of California.
Supervisory Responsibility, if any:
● Oversee the direction and quality of work for E.I.T.’s, Designers, Engineering Assistants and other support staff on their respective project team.
Working Conditions:
● Typically work functions will be conducted in an office setting on a Monday through Friday workweek. Site visits required at times and may involve climbing ladders, walking on roofs, and following job site safety policies. Onsite project construction administration participation may be included. Overtime and weekend hours may be necessary at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
