A Mechanical/Structural Engineer performs duties including structural analysis and design, creating detailed drawings and models using CAD software, analyzing components and systems, preparing technical documentation and cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers and other disciplines to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget. They apply mechanical engineering principles to both mechanical systems and structural components, ensuring structural integrity and functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Analysis:Conduct structural analysis to determine loadings and stresses on structural components, and design structural members and systems for buildings, bridges, and other structures.
- CAD and Modeling:Develop and refine detailed drawings, models, and specifications for structural and mechanical elements using computer-aided design (CAD) and modeling software.
- Component Integration:Design and test machined parts, castings, and welded fabrications to meet specific project requirements, ensuring their integration into larger systems.
- Documentation:Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for projects, and document findings and suggestions for improvements.
- Project Management Support:Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to define project requirements, manage budgets, track progress, and coordinate resources effectively.
- Liaison and Collaboration:Interact with customers, suppliers, and contractors to resolve technical issues, clarify specifications, and ensure project compliance.
- Quality Assurance:Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, and monitor construction processes to maintain quality and safety.
