Job Description


Are you a detail-oriented engineering student looking to make a real impact? Mission Critical Group (MCG) is seeking a motivated engineering intern to join our team! The Engineering Intern plays a crucial role in optimizing our data and supporting ongoing engineering department efforts. You will learn to navigate our vast AutoCAD drawing library and understand the fundamentals behind our custom-manufactured switchgear and electrical equipment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

  • Log parts and materials specified for product builds.
  • Interpret schematics and drawings to determine part measurements.
  • Assist in developing processes to improve quality and efficiency of documentation.
  • Organize and maintain essential data in engineering systems and databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the VP of Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to structure and manage large datasets.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.


Education and Experience

  • Current enrollment in an Engineering degree program at a 4-year college (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Experience with 3D design is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, or related software is a plus.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • The work environment is a typical office environment, with quiet to moderate noise level, and traditional lighting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
  • Must be able to travel between MCG locations as needed.
