Mechanical Engineering Technician – Automotive Adaptations

Tampa, FL – Full-time (Mon–Fri)
Flexible hours: 7am–4pm (to beat Tampa rush hour traffic!) or 8am–5pm

Are you passionate about cars, technology, helping people with disabilities regain the freedom and independence to drive? Join our innovative team specializing in adaptive driving systems for drivers with disabilities — and work on some of the world’s most exciting vehicles, from Porsche and BMW to Mercedes, SUVs, trucks, and minivans.

Your Mission

You’ll take part in the complete process — from design to installation — creating high-performance, safe, and elegant driving adaptations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build custom wiring harnesses and precision components.
  • Manufacture and assemble parts, including soldering electronic components.
  • Learn to perform TIG/MIG welding and operate shop equipment (lathe, mill, etc.) with hands-on training provided.
  • Modify and integrate systems into vehicle interiors (dashboards, panels, wiring).
  • Use 3D scanners, 3D printers, and CAD software for design and prototyping.
  • Collaborate directly with customers — many of our customers are military veterans and individuals with disabilities who rely on our technology to maintain their mobility and independence.

Your Profile

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a basic understanding of mechanical and automotive systems.
  • Is eager to learn about automotive electronics and adaptive technology.
  • Is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and passionate about innovation.
  • Communicates clearly and works well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and professionalism with customers.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with 3D scanning, CAD design, or 3D printing.
  • Experience in wiring, soldering, or interior vehicle modification.
