Mechanical Fitter

Job Purpose:

Responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment, machinery, and piping systems at construction or industrial project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Install, assemble, and fit mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, and pipe supports.
• Align and level machinery using precision tools (dial gauges, micrometers, spirit level, etc.).
• Conduct fitting, grinding, drilling, cutting, threading, and welding (basic).
• Perform maintenance and repair of equipment, including dismantling and reassembly.
• Assist in pipe fitting work: cutting, threading, fitting flanges, gaskets, and pipe supports.
• Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting on mechanical systems.
• Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, and operational readiness of equipment.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and work orders.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and lifting tools safely.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Technical diploma / ITI certification in Mechanical / Industrial Maintenance (preferred).
• Minimum 2–3 years experience as Mechanical Fitter (construction, industrial, oil & gas preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical assembly and maintenance techniques.
• Ability to read engineering/mechanical diagrams.
• Knowledge of rotating and static equipment.
• Skilled in using hand tools, measuring instruments, and power tools.
• Ability to follow instructions and coordinate with supervisors and engineers.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to work at heights or confined spaces (if required).

• Power plants / refineries
• Steel plants / construction projects
• Manufacturing or heavy industry

Work Environment:

• Onsite industrial or construction environments
• Exposure to dust, noise, heat
• Requires physical effort and PPE compliance
