A Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in paper printing ensures maximum uptime of printing presses and finishing machinery through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Key responsibilities include repairing hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes, reducing machine downtime, and managing spare parts to support continuous, high-speed production operations. Key Responsibilities
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and emergency repairs on printing and packaging machinery (e.g., offset, digital).
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical failures and repair/replace components like gearboxes, pumps, rollers, pneumatic cylinders, and hydraulic systems.
- Machine Setup & Optimization: Assist in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring proper alignment and performance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and service history, often using CMMS software.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Production Support: Coordinate with operators to minimize downtime and provide technical support during production shifts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 2–7 years in industrial maintenance, specifically with printing or packaging machinery.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and reading technical diagrams.
- Abilities: Troubleshooting skills, analytical thinking, and capacity to work in rotating shifts.
Common Qualifications Sought
- Experience with Heidelberg,KBA or similar offset printing machines.
- Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices.
