Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (Automotive Industry)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in automotive manufacturing to join our dynamic production team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in optimizing our manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality product output, and driving continuous improvement in efficiency and cost reduction within our automotive production lines.

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization and Development

  • Design, develop, and implement efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes and systems for automotive components and assemblies (e.g., powertrain, body-in-white, chassis).
  • Specify, justify, and manage the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment, tooling, and machinery, ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Conduct time studies, process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), and root cause analysis of production issues to eliminate bottlenecks and improve throughput.
  • Develop and maintain accurate standard work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Quality and Design Engineering teams to implement Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles and resolve part quality issues using methodologies like 8D or A3 problem-solving.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (e.g., Kaizen events, value stream mapping) to reduce waste, scrap, and rework.
  • Ensure all processes comply with IATF 16949 standards and internal quality requirements.
Tooling and Equipment Management

  • Manage the design, procurement, and maintenance schedules for jigs, fixtures, gauges, and production tooling.
  • Program and troubleshoot Robotics and automated manufacturing systems (e.g., welding, assembly).
Project Management and Collaboration
  • Lead capital projects from concept through to successful production launch, managing budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless product introductions and engineering changes.
Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, specifically within the automotive or a highly regulated, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, or AutoCAD).
    • Proven experience with high-volume machining, welding, assembly, or stamping processes typical in automotive production.
    • Solid understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
