Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer – HVAC is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of HVAC works throughout the project lifecycle. The role ensures that HVAC systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, quality standards, and project schedules while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate all HVAC installation activities on site.
- Review project specifications, contract documents, IFC drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.
- Prepare material take-offs, procurement requests, and monitor material availability.
- Monitor site progress and ensure work is completed according to the approved project schedule.
- Supervise the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, air distribution systems, insulation, supports, and HVAC equipment.
- Ensure installation complies with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable standards.
- Review and implement method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and risk assessments.
- Coordinate Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB), testing and commissioning (T&C), and system start-up activities.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support to site teams.
- Prepare and review Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and engineering reports.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team to ensure timely inspections and closure of quality observations.
- Work closely with the planning team to monitor progress and achieve project milestones.
- Support quantity surveying activities, including variation orders and progress measurements.
- Ensure compliance with project quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates to management.
- Prepare as-built drawings and support project handover documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC engineering for commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with MEP contractors or EPC projects is preferred.
- GCC or Middle East project experience is an advantage.
