Medication Technician

Salary: $18

Medication Technician Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED. Must be at least 21 old
Emotionally and physically able to assist in physical escort and/or restraint. Must be able to help carry an ill, injured, or incapacitated student
Must be physically able to assist in AWOL searches in mountainous terrain
Confidentiality and professionalism are essential
Valid AZ Drivers’ License
Ability to obtain a Fingerprint clearance card (or in current possession)

Medication Technician Responsibilities:

Pass medications at scheduled med pass times.
Ensure proper storage of all medications including prescription, OTC and narcotic meds.
Monitor each student medications for all dorms, and valley homes to check the need for new medication orders, and/or discontinued meds. If a new medication or a refill is needed, contact all pharmacies and fax over correct orders.
Check on orders from the previous day to see if they are in, or on their way and document appropriately.
When meds are delivered, check inventory to be sure all are accounted for. Count all controlled meds with a nurse, and document in narcotic med book. Label, and lock in lock box.
Pack any medications for a student that is going on a home pass, off campus activity or being d/c’d, and prepare required paper work.
Check all stock medications including, but not limited to over the counter meds, PRN meds, cream, lotions, liquids, band aids, urine screening tests, medical supplies, etc.
Help transport students to the school and to nursing for exams with NP.
Help nurse with wound care, provide first aid when necessary.
Clean work area, and help maintain nursing building.
Adheres to Mingus policy and practice concerning creation, editing, transmission, storage, and disposition of all Protected Health Information in compliance with HIPAA.

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center (MMYTC) is a nonprofit residential behavioral health treatment center serving adolescents with serious emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. Located in Arizona, we provide structured, trauma-informed, and clinically sophisticated care for youth who require intensive therapeutic support. MMYTC staff routinely treat vulnerable youth who have survived abuse, neglect and exploitation in their communities, which provides a unique opportunity for staff to provide life-saving care.
