As a Media and Public Affairs Manager at Siemens USA, you will spearhead the development, execution, and evaluation of sophisticated communication strategies and programs that align with our corporate objectives. Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs, your role will focus on enhancing our external media communication strategy. Key functions of this role include media relations, thought leadership, coordination with our in-house government relations team, and executive communications support for speaking engagements. You will act as a primary liaison for media inquiries and coordinate with both internal and external communications teams. A strong background in media relations with a topical interest in technology, industrial, and infrastructure hardware and software is essential for success in this role.
We are seeking a Media and Public Affairs Manager for a hybrid position based in Washington, D.C.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Forging and implementing communication strategies that support the organization's goals and broader U.S. agenda.
- Building and sustaining strong relationships with national, local, and technology reporters.
- Crafting, editing, and distributing content aimed at regional and national audiences via news media and social platforms, maintaining high editorial standards and professional judgment.
- Leveraging a deep understanding of national policy and political topics relevant to our business to anticipate and navigate emerging challenges through strategic communications.
- Leading crisis communication efforts, coordinating with stakeholders to develop messaging and strategies that protect the organization's reputation.
- Producing a range of media materials, including press releases, fact sheets, Q&As, and media advisories, and translating complex topics for general audiences.
- Developing external communication assets such as presentations, speeches, talking points, and social media content for executives.
- Identifying, preparing, and staffing spokespeople for media engagements, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Organizing and executing media events, leveraging a broad knowledge of media landscapes.
- Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies and media activities.
- Collaborating with global and regional teams to align and execute media relations and communications efforts.
- Acting as an internal investigative reporter, uncovering and developing newsworthy stories from business partners and packaging them compellingly for media dissemination.
- Demonstrating skill in small relationship-building across highly matrixed organizations to enhance collaboration and information flow.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 5-6 years' experience in media/public relations as well as designing and implementing communication strategies for large private companies.
- A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, english, political science, or a similar discipline.
- 5-6 years of experience in creating concise and effective communications materials with a deep understanding of media relations.
- 5-6 years of experience working effectively in highly matrixed organizations and fostering relationships that facilitate the flow of information and story development.
- 5-6 years of experience with managing complex projects and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to advance the organization's objectives, enhance its public profile, and showcase its leadership in technology and innovation.
- Ability and willingness to travel for events and to our Washington D.C. office as necessary.
- Authorized to work in the United States without the need for company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Foundational knowledge of government affairs is a plus.
- Deep integration of AI into communications work and understanding of how to use AI tools to increase productivity is desired.
- Critical thinking skills and curiosity around problem-solving.
- Exceptional communication skills and a passion for technology.
- Strong executive presence.

- The pay range for this position is $97,961-$167,933, and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
