The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA), the oldest and largest national organization representing Italian American men and women, is seeking a dedicated Media & Communications Intern for summer 2026. The internship will be fully remote, with the option to work from OSDIA’s National Headquarters in Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

The Media & Communications Intern will directly assist the Editor-in-Chief of Italian America magazine, the nation’s most widely-read publication for Italian Americans, with strategic communication and magazine-related efforts.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in communications and/or journalism is highly preferred. Candidates should also be detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of exhibiting professional phone etiquette.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting media relations efforts by conducting outreach and drafting press releases on behalf of the OSDIA National Office.
  • Assisting the communications team with social media strategy, content development, and broader marketing initiatives.
  • Contributing to website projects, including content creation, updates, and quality assurance.
  • Preparing and proofreading official correspondence for OSDIA executive leadership to ensure accuracy, clarity, and organizational consistency.
  • Researching, writing, and editing articles for Italian America, with the potential to earn a byline in the nation’s largest publication for Italian Americans, reaching nearly 25,000 households quarterly.
  • Producing written content for official OSDIA publications, including Italian America, event programs, newsletters, and informational materials.
  • Providing administrative support, including answering phone inquiries, managing email communications, and completing additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university or have graduated within the past two years. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, or possess relevant professional experience. Italian language skills are preferred but not required.

Internship Session:

The program will run from June 1, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with scheduling based on the applicant’s availability.

Compensation:

Interns will receive a stipend of $1500, paid in two sums over the course of the internship period.
