SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist staff and students in the effective use of Library Media Center (LMC) resources, instructional technology, and equipment. This position supports daily library operations, circulation services, media center organization, and instructional support aligned with district curriculum initiatives.
Training and access to the district library software system will be provided by the District Library Media Coordinator. Activities within the media center will align with district practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

Develop operational knowledge of the district library software system and assist students and staff in its use.

Assist students and teachers in locating print and non-print resources.

Check books and materials in and out using the computerized circulation system.

Maintain records related to overdue materials, lost items, and fines.

Monitor and maintain schedules for staff and student use of the library.

Shelve, organize, and maintain print and non-print materials.
-
Conduct annual library and textbook inventory.
-
Assist staff and students with inquiry searches, online databases, educational technology, and general reference questions.

Support staff in developing curriculum-aligned instructional materials and resource selections.

Develop bibliographies, displays, and resource materials for classroom and media center use.
-
Provide information literacy support and instruction to students and staff when requested.

Assist teachers and students in the operation and use of instructional technology and multimedia equipment.

Support scheduling, distribution, and inventory of classroom equipment.
-
Maintain equipment records and assist with minor troubleshooting and maintenance.
-
Maintain adequate supplies for library and media equipment.
-
Assist in maintaining an organized and functional media center environment.
-
Maintain patron barcodes and classroom assignments.
-
Perform clerical duties including typing, filing, and data entry as needed.

Assist in maintaining the appearance of the library through displays, bulletin boards, and organization of materials.

Repair damaged books and prepare materials for bindery services.

Coordinate and support book fairs and related activities as assigned.

Attend trainings, workshops, and professional development related to library media services.

Follow district policies regarding confidentiality, copyright, FERPA/CIPA requirements, and ethical use of information.

Support district curriculum initiatives and established library media procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to operate audiovisual equipment, computers, and office equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and community members.

Basic typing/keyboarding skills (40–50 wpm).

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
-
Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Colorado Teaching License – College Education Degree in Media Specialist Area or related field.

Experience working with school age children.

Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
