POSITION SUMMARY
Ace Aeronautics is seeking a skilled Media Specialist / Technical Writer to support flight test documentation, company communications, and regulatory deliverables. This position is embedded within our Certification and Test team and plays a dual role: capturing high-quality photo and video content across flight operations and contributing to the technical documentation pipeline supporting FAA certification programs. The ideal candidate combines a sharp eye for visual storytelling with the discipline required in a regulated aviation environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES — PHOTO & VIDEO
- Plan, capture, and edit photo and video content during flight test operations, including ground run-ups, hover work, and airborne test profiles from ground-based and airborne vantage points.
- Operate camera systems in dynamic, high-noise, and operationally restricted environments; adhere to all flight test safety protocols and range procedures.
- Produce edited video deliverables for internal program documentation, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and stakeholder briefings.
- Manage and maintain organized media archives tagged by test date, aircraft configuration, and test card reference.
- Develop and maintain social media content across company platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.), including short-form video, reels, and static imagery showcasing aircraft, personnel, and program milestones.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations and program leads to align content with company branding and contractual sensitivities; apply appropriate ITAR/CUI handling to all captured media.
- Photograph and document aircraft configurations, avionics installations, and component-level details for use in certification documentation packages and STC submittals.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES — TECHNICAL WRITING
- Draft, format, and revise technical documents including test plans, test reports, procedures, and program correspondence in support of FAA STC certification efforts.
- Support preparation of Programmatic Safety and Certification Plans (PSCPs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Conformity Inspection documentation.
- Assist in the development of Operations Specifications, Limitations sections, and Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplements (RFMS) under engineer and DER guidance.
- Edit and maintain document revision histories; apply company style standards and ensure compliance with FAA document conventions (AC format, Order references, etc.).
- Coordinate with engineers, test pilots, and avionics personnel to capture and accurately convey technical content; translate verbal and whiteboard-level technical information into clear, structured written deliverables.
- Organize and archive program documentation in accordance with configuration management and data retention requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Demonstrated proficiency in professional photo and video production, including capture, editing, and color grading (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent).
- Strong written English skills with experience producing structured technical documents or professional communications.
- Ability to work in an active flight operations environment; willingness to follow all range safety requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Third-Class FAA Medical Certificate (flight line access and airborne documentation duties may require it).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); familiarity with document control practices.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables.
Preferred
- Prior experience in an aviation, aerospace, defense, or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with FAA regulatory documentation, STC packages, or DO-series standards (DO-160, DO-178, etc.).
- Experience with drone/UAS platforms for aerial photography support.
- Familiarity with ITAR requirements and controlled/sensitive information handling.
- Formal training or education in communications, journalism, technical writing, or a related field.
