We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Legal Assistant to join our team, focusing on Medicaid planning and assisting clients with long-term care needs.

Position Overview:

The Legal Assistant will work directly with paralegals, attorneys and clients to support the Medicaid planning process. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Experience in elder law or Medicaid planning is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing and filing Medicaid applications.
  • Collect, organize, and review financial documents necessary for Medicaid planning.
  • Communicate with clients, families, and financial institutions to gather relevant information.
  • Prepare correspondence, legal documents, and forms for Medicaid qualification.
  • Maintain and update case files, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Provide support for client meetings, including scheduling, document preparation, and follow-up.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of VA benefits applications.
  • Managing case files and maintaining regular communication with clients to update them on case progress.
  • Preparation of correspondence and various legal documents, including contracts and affidavits.
  • Organization and maintenance of client files, both physical and electronic.
  • Handling incoming calls, providing initial information to clients, and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Scheduling appointments and managing the firm's calendar for optimal efficiency.
  • Collaborating closely with team members to ensure seamless delivery of legal services.

Education/Training/Experience:

Required:

  • Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in Medicaid planning or elder law.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Clio Case Management software and Wealth Counsel.

Work Location: In Person

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday

Job Type: Full-time, hourly
