Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes clearly and ensuring comfort.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as administering medications, performing basic X-ray imaging, and assisting with minor procedures in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately to document patient information, diagnoses (including ICD coding), and treatment plans.
- Conduct physiological assessments based on anatomy knowledge and medical terminology to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Manage medical supplies, sterilize equipment, and assist in maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment aligned with hospital standards.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating appointment scheduling, and ensuring a positive experience for all patients across specialties like dermatology, internal medicine, or surgical units.
- Support hospital teams in emergency medicine scenarios or Level I/II trauma centers by assisting with intake, vital signs monitoring, or basic life support when needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including ICU (PICU), Geriatrics units, or medical-surgical wards to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding for accurate documentation and communication.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, or specialty units like dermatology or geriatrics.
- Proficiency with EHR systems to efficiently document patient data and manage medical records securely.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including medication administration under supervision, taking X-rays, measuring vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including inpatient units or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with hospital experience requirements such as Level I/II trauma centers or emergency medicine protocols.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical practices and experience supporting physicians in various specialties like internal medicine or pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
