Duties

  • Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates to support diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
  • Support physicians during procedures by handing instruments, preparing supplies, and maintaining sterile environments.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as administering medications under supervision, collecting laboratory specimens, or assisting with X-ray procedures.
  • Manage medical documentation including ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Support emergency medicine scenarios in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers with skills in trauma assessment, vital monitoring, and initial stabilization.
  • Contribute to hospital medicine units or intensive care settings such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics wards by assisting with patient mobility, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Collaborate effectively within medical-surgical teams or specialty clinics like dermatology or internal medicine to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or specialty areas such as wound care and personal injury or urgent care.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and scheduling is essential; experience with ICD coding is preferred.
  • Prior outpatient wound care experience in medical office or a specialized wound care clinic is essential.
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks such as medication administration, X-ray assistance, specimen collection, and vital sign measurement accurately.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; compassionate demeanor essential for supporting diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure in emergency medicine scenarios or fast-paced outpatient clinics.

Pay: $23.18 - $25.00 per hour
