This is a full time PRN position, candidate must be able to work at all locations (Oakland, Lonaconing, Cumberland and Hagerstown)
Overview
The clinical support staff (RN, LPN, MA) is tasked with performing a variety of tasks that support the prescribers and other clinicians. Clinical Support staff responsibilities range from administrative and clerical duties to performing clinical tasks in line with the individual's scope or practice as licensed or certified.
Duties
- Checking patients in and out in office and online.
- Obtaining vital signs.
- Collecting co-payments.
- Answering phones.
- Answering patient inquiries.
- Preparing paperwork for clinician signature.
- Completion of medication prior authorization.
- Obtaining lab samples as prescribed.
- Scanning and filing paperwork to charts.
- Documentation of all task and encounters with patients as per company policy.
- Covering duties of other staff as needed and other duties that may be required.
Competencies
- Proven experience in a clinical, outpatient setting with multiple providers.
- In-depth understanding and use of google platform and Electronic Health Record Systems.
- Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.
- Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
- Professional level verbal and written communication skills.
- Good quality customer service, public relations, active listening skills and telephone skills.
- Ability to ethically relate to individuals with severe, persistent psychiatric disabilities and addictions disorders.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of behavioral health services withing the public mental health system.
- Capacity for effective advocacy and coordination with various community agencies.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality laws pertaining to the access and release of Protected Health Information.
- Capacity for effectively managing crisis situations and somatic/psychiatric emergencies.
- Ability to maintain organized records and documentation within the program databases.
- Practical knowledge of CPR/First Aid.
- Competency working within the individual own licensed (or certified) scope of practice as per Maryland State Board of Nursing, or other certifying body of medical assistants.
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disease processes.
- Competency with administering injectable medications.
- Competency in obtaining lab samples via venipuncture, urinary or saliva samples.
- Competency with infection control techniques.
Schedules may vary based on the needs of the practice. Employees may occasionally be asked to provide coverage at other sites within the company. There may be occasional overtime.
