Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with patient intake processes to ensure accurate and efficient service delivery.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support clinical assessments.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Assist healthcare providers during exams, procedures, and treatments, including medication administration and minor procedures.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines or EKG devices when required, adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and managing patient records to streamline clinic operations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency medicine settings, including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers when applicable.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and specialized areas like dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, or PICU to provide informed patient support.
Requirements
- Certification or experience as a Medical Assistant with a strong foundation in medical terminology and anatomy.
- Prior hospital or clinic experience in outpatient or inpatient settings; experience in hospital medicine or emergency medicine is highly valued.
- Knowledge of EHR systems and proficiency in ICD coding for accurate documentation.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, specimen collection, medication administration, and X-ray operation when necessary.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in emergency medicine or OR experience are advantageous.
- Familiarity with hospital environments including Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, PICU, or Level I Trauma Centers is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
