Medical Assistant

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will directly impact patient care and clinic efficiency. In this vital role, you will support physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth operations within outpatient, inpatient, and specialized medical settings. Your expertise in medical procedures, patient service, and healthcare documentation will help deliver exceptional care to diverse patient populations across various medical disciplines including dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine.

Duties

  • Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support clinical assessments.
  • Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
  • Support physicians during procedures including medication administration, X-ray positioning, or minor surgical interventions in outpatient or inpatient settings.
  • Perform basic life support (BLS) when necessary and respond effectively to emergency situations within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment.
  • Document clinical notes, ICD coding for diagnoses, and procedural details precisely in EHR systems to ensure compliance and seamless communication.
  • Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and assist with specimen collection for laboratory testing.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, coordinating appointments, and ensuring a welcoming environment in clinics specializing in geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or other specialized units like the OR or Geriatrics.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings with exposure to dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or surgical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in handling medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling and documentation.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to hospital medicine or urgent care are advantageous.
  • Experience working within Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures or assist with radiology-related tasks is a plus.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach toward diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as urgent care clinics or hospital wards specializing in medical-surgical care. Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
