Medical Assistant – Neurology Clinic

Position Summary
We are looking for a Medical Assistant to support our outpatient neurology practice. You’ll play a key role in patient care, clinic flow, and care coordination while working closely with neurologists and advanced practice providers. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where MAs are trusted and valued members of the care team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic & Patient Flow Support

Prepare patient charts ahead of scheduled visits by ensuring all relevant imaging, lab results, reports, and documentation are available and accurately loaded in the medical record.

Carry forward relevant clinical information into provider templates as appropriate to support efficient and high-quality visits.

Load imaging into the RadiAnt image viewer prior to patient visits so providers can seamlessly review studies with patients.

Room patients promptly and efficiently to support on-time clinic flow.

Perform patient intake, including review of medical history, completion of required quality/MIPS questions, medication reconciliation, and collection of vital signs.

Provide clear handoff to providers prior to the patient encounter.

Turn over exam rooms between patients, ensuring rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for the next visit.
Provider & Procedure Support

Prepare procedure trays as needed for in-office procedures and injections (e.g., Botox, Xeomin).

Assist providers during patient visits and procedures as requested.

Answer and manage clinical phone calls for assigned provider(s).
Clinical Administration & Care Coordination

Triage provider inboxes, including patient portal messages, administrative communications, and incoming forms, routing items appropriately to providers or other team members.

Obtain prior authorizations for oral and injectable medications using CoverMyMeds and other payer portals.

Coordinate specialty pharmacy medication delivery in advance of scheduled appointments (e.g., Botox, Xeomin, other injectable therapies).

Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews between providers and insurance companies when required.

Fax orders for imaging, laboratory tests, and other services as needed.

Pre-fill FMLA, disability, and other medical forms for provider review and signature.

Draft appeal letters and supporting documentation for insurance and benefits-related denials on behalf of providers.
Inventory & Medication Management

Receive medication orders and enter them into the inventory management system.

Manage medication samples, including proper storage, logging, and reordering in compliance with clinic policies.
What We’re Looking For

Medical Assistant certification or diploma (CMA, RMA, CCMA or similar)

Experience in a medical office or specialty clinic
-
Strong organization, multitasking, and communication skills
-
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and supporting complex patients
Neurology, injections, phlebotomy, or prior authorization experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.
