Position: Psychiatric Medical Assistant

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and organized Psychiatric Medical Assistant to join our outpatient practice. This role involves working closely with our psychiatric providers to ensure efficient patient care and administrative support. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical procedures, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Organize Provider's Schedule: Manage and coordinate the daily schedules of psychiatric providers to optimize patient care and provider efficiency.
- Patient Interviews and Assessments: Conduct patient interviews, assess medical records, take vitals, and document findings accurately.
- Order Labs: Initiate and follow up on lab orders, ensuring timely and accurate processing of test requests.
- Schedule Appointments: Arrange and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal scheduling and minimal wait times.
- Prior Authorizations: Obtain necessary prior authorizations for medications and procedures from insurance companies.
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): Utilize EHR systems to track patient data, update records, and manage provider orders.
- Lab Results: Obtain and communicate lab results to providers and patients, ensuring prompt follow-up on abnormal findings.
- Answer Calls: Handle incoming calls from patients, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers with professionalism and efficiency.
- Pharmacy Coordination: Maintain regular contact with pharmacies to manage prescriptions, refills, and medication-related inquiries.
- Patient Education: Educate patients about their medications, procedures offered, and general health care practices.
- Patient Forms: Send, receive, and process patient forms, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and timely.
Qualifications:
- Education: Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting as a Medical Assistant.
- Proficient in EHR systems and medical software preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and administrative staff.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and medications relevant to psychiatric care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.42 - $16.00 per hour
