Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support within a fast-paced medical environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and the ability to work effectively in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation.
- Utilize EHR systems for accurate patient record management and coding (ICD coding).
- Provide support in dermatology, urgent care, and hospital medicine settings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including Level I and Level II trauma centers.
- Support emergency medicine protocols when necessary and assist during X-ray procedures.
- Engage with patients in a compassionate manner, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout their visit.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience in hospital settings, including medical-surgical units, internal medicine, geriatrics, PICU, OR experience, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with basic life support techniques and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to perform tasks related to dermatology and urgent care effectively.
- Competence in using EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Understanding of vital signs monitoring and medication administration procedures.
