CHMHA has a fantastic opening for a Medical Assistant (MA)

The MA will be the primary liaison supporting both psychiatric and primary care services provided within CHMHA facilities. This position will provide direct patient support, clinical tasks, care coordination, and administrative functions. They will coordinate with nursing staff, staff prescribers, case managers and outside primary care providers as needed.

SCHEDULE

The schedule for this shift is Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week. This position does require travel to different CHMHA facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary liaison, coordinating care between CHMHA psychiatric providers, contracted and external primary care providers.
  • Provide direct patient support and administrative tasks related to contracted primary care services provided at CHMHA facilities including lab orders, prior authorization
  • Facilitate timely access to records, lab results and other communication needed to coordinate care
  • Administer approved medications (PO, SQ, IM, ID) under delegation and supervision per Washington State MA scope.
  • Perform tasks such as vitals, venipuncture and specimen collection.
  • Coordinate access to medications for all clients through trained staff ensuring the seven rights of medication use are followed: right person, right medication, right time, right dose, right route, right reason (including refusal), and right documentation according to agency provided medication training
  • Complete documentation in electronic medical record on client interactions, medications dispensed when assigned, and other required documentation per WAC requirements
  • Ensure all interactions represent the five principles of trauma-informed care, including safety, choice, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment
  • Practice good financial stewardship of agency and contract resources, including how time is being spent, supplies are used, property is being maintained, etc.
  • Monitor spending of Petty Cash and other agency money to ensure accountability and appropriate use
  • Meet identified key performance indicators and metrics for the position as identified for the program, division, and agency
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution as needed
  • Always maintain client and staff confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Active WA State MA Certified
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for 1 year with clean driving record in order to use agency vehicles.
  • Have legible handwriting
  • Ability to do simple mathematics
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend agency/member charts
